The US Mint issued the first of a new collection of the American Silver Eagle series starting in 2006. Struck on specially burnished blanks, these coins are known as "Burnished Silver Eagles". These collectable Silver Eagles feature a "W" mint mark.
Each year's mintage is significantly lower than their bullion counterparts. The Burnished Silver Eagles were only offered by the U.S. Mint as a part of specific sets, or individually. Never in rolls.
The 2006 Silver Eagle came in the special 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set, while The 2007 and 2008 Silver Eagles were included in each year's Annual Uncirculated Dollar Set.
2006-W: 470,000 Mintage
2007-W: 653,878 Mintage
2008-W: 517,967 Mintage
Composition: 99.9% silver. Weight: 1 Troy Ounce. Diameter: 40.60 mm (1.598 inches). Edge of coin: reeded. All Burnished Silver Eagles are Original issue with papers and are encased in plastic capsules.
