The Washington Quarter design was introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th birthday of George Washington. It has been one of America's most popular coin designs and has undergone very few design changes other than those found the ever popular State Quarter Series. The mint mark on early issues(1932-1964) is found on the reverse below the eagle, while on the modern issues it's found to the right of Washington's neck. The 1932 - 1964 quarters were made of 90% Silver and 10% Copper.
