The Washington Quarter design was introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th birthday of George Washington. It has since then been one of America's most popular coin designs and has continued to date with very little design changes other than those found the ever popular State Quarter Series. The mint mark on early issues(1932-1964) is found on the reverse below the eagle, while that of the modern issues is found to the right of Washington's neck.
